KFS successfully model the SNCR process using CFD
KFS have successfully developed a comprehensive CFD model for the SNCR process to reduce NOx emissions in the lime industry. The model is based on the KFS proprietary kiln bed chemistry and the 7-step SNCR models.
A design exploration study is usually conducted to optimise the injection system, including injector design, quantity and location within the kiln system, along with urea concentration and quantity. The methodology has been used as the basis for a recently installed SNCR system supplied by KFS. A 60% NOx reduction of the baseline furnace value has been predicted with a urea slippage of less than 1 ppm. The model predictions have been backed up by the measured site operational data.
